How Blockchain Will Personalize Healthcare

“Modern healthcare data systems are contained in disparate and disconnected information silos in doctors offices, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, and mobile devices. The information is so segregated that it often prevents healthcare providers from providing fast and efficient care to patients. Blockchain technology can be a solution to keeping all patient data in a single, secure location. “

African Union turns to biosurveillance tech to curb COVID-19

“African leaders have taken decisive, early actions to curb the spread of COVID-19. In fact, the Africa Centers for Disease Control (ACDC) created its COVID-19 task force on February 5, before the continent had a single case. Today, Africa is currently the least impacted region in the world, with 1,293,048 confirmed COVID-19 cases so far and a remarkable 1,031,905 recoveries, according to the Africa CDCP. The continent has less than 5 percent of reported cases and less than 1 percent of all deaths. Now, as African countries — led by the African Union —  ease COVID-19 restrictions and prepare to reopen their economies and borders, many governments are employing innovative technologies. A need for a unified, pan-African technology that can track the spread and connect COVID-19 testing centers across the continent has led to the use of PanaBIOS, an African Union-backed biosurveillance technology. “

Akon Proceeds With Plans to Construct $6B ‘Real-Life Wakanda’ Despite COVID-19

“It’s official, ‘Akon City’ is still on its way! R&B sensation, Akon announced that construction for his futuristic pan-African city will begin next year, AP News reports. The $6 billion project will still proceed despite global tourism’s uncertain future due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the hit film, ‘Black Panther,’ Akon first set his sights on creating a utopian city back in 2018 and has described it as a ‘real-life Wakanda,‘ much like the technologically advanced fictional African place portrayed in the film. Akon hopes his city will serve as a ‘home back home’ for Black Americans and others facing racial injustices. His aim is also to provide much-needed jobs for Senegalese.

Coronavirus Crisis And Afrofuturism: A Way To Envision What’s Possible Despite Injustice And Hardship

“The coronavirus has disproportionately impacted black Americans, who are getting sick and dying at higher rates than other populations. Scholars have been thinking about how survival elements — like the creation of new music and art — can serve as a form of comfort and healing.” Tonya Mosley
